Listen to Volga class (year 5) talk about astronaut Tim Peake’s launch into space and hear real audio of the launch. The students also talk about life in space, they make a poem from a newspaper page (Beat Box Cat), talk about their typical Christmas and play Repeat at Home: Artists where they try to draw a famous work of art based on someone’s description of it.  (See the paintings here and here). Finally, listen to Mr Farrow’s song choice if he was stuck on a Desert Island.

Rio Grande Autumn

This week on Rio Grande’s broadcast you can learn more about the book Clockwork by Philip Pullman. Learn what the class made for the Winter Fair and listen to a short piece of Newspaper Music by the students.

You can also learn how cheese and pepperoni are made and how bananas grow in our new feature Fantastic Food.

The poem of the week is Toy Dog by Carol Ann Duffy. Finally, listen to a message from Miss Savvides to her class as she talks about her choice for Desert Island Discs.

This week with Zambezi class you can learn Spanish and know more about Irish dancing. Listen to the children reading Flanders Field (a Second World War poem by John Mc Crae) and join in on a game of 21 Questions.

This week Mississippi class (year 6) talk about Pablo Picasso and his art.

We’ve introduced a new feature: Repeat at Home, where listeners take part whilst listening at home. First off is Artists where you can try your hand at drawing the famous artwork that the speaker is describing. Then you can listen to interesting Facts & Fictions chosen by the students.

Finally, join us to play 21 Questions, trying to guess what the chosen image is in 21 questions or less.
